ICC Champions Trophy 2025 - It requires two hands to create a clap

The country should come first
ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has been made a controversial event, and like my previous blog post, it is a war of optics, where in history, none will discuss what India did, but everyone will discuss what Pakistan did because Pakistan is the host, and spotlight always redirect towards the hosts, and hence just imagine after twenty years, when someone else might be discussing Pakistan and while going towards Sports Almanac, it'd only show that Pakistan was not able to host its tournament on its soil, just like Asia Cup 2022 in UAE hosted by Sri Lanka and similarly recently concluded Women T20I World Cup 2024 in UAE was hosted by Bangladesh, Almanac would show that due to political instability in their country, but when it comes to Pakistan, Indians have been trying their level best to create an optics globally against Pakistan.

India as Potential threats in Pakistan

Indian propaganda machines have been very active
Indian propaganda machines have been very active right now, and they have been playing psychological mind games, the same technique they used inside India, where they promoted Aranab Goswami, which is the same technique our news channels also promote in their broadcasting, but while listening to their (Indians) presentations, they have been shamelessly mentioning India as a potential host as they are deeming as a minus-Pakistan scenario, because right now Pakistan and Pakistan Cricket Board both are in such mood that according to Mr. Gupta, even if Pakistan admits Hybrid Model, which in my perspective is Hybrid warfare, another name given to Hybrid Warfare is Hybrid Model, and this is where I am banking on that this scenario is kept pushing inside the carpet, because if I join missing pieces of the puzzle, it was India who were not happy with Pakistan co-hosting Asia Cup with Sri Lanka, but right now India has been playing China Card, where Indian sports media has been playing mouth piece for their prime minister, similarly whatever Mr. Gupta and Mr. Vivek have been blabbing that India has been steadfast on its stance whereas after 26/11 as we were pointing towards Pakistan, Pakistan were found committed, this has been their stance, whereas we have been so nubile and friendly with them that we even compromised our own national interests, and now they have been stuffing nails on our so-called coffin, because as I have been mentioning again-and-again that we have been turned into lab-rats, where everyone comes tests us and publish their findings, whereas we have been doing nothing except making noises.

Indians playing with the optics!

Deleting the hostname from the official ICC logo reveal is
is something most people won't identify at first glance
India's refusal to travel to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy is a stark reflection of the deeper issues surrounding the geopolitics of cricket, particularly when viewed in the context of Pakistan's long-awaited opportunity to host a multinational tournament for the first time since 1996. While much of the conversation focuses on the optics of the situation, we must not overlook the fundamental concerns that lie beneath the surface.

As I've pointed out in previous posts, this entire spectacle is more about creating a sensation than addressing the core issue at hand. The decision to shift the focus to peripheral matters, much like the drama surrounding the 2023 Asia Cup, only serves to mask the real questions that need to be asked. Why is Pakistan, after years of isolation, relying on external forces to dictate the terms of its cricketing future?

Sure, hosting the tournament in Pakistan might offer short-term benefits, but the longer-term implications are worth scrutinizing. Cricket in Pakistan has had its fair share of setbacks, and while the country is clearly eager to regain its place on the global stage, the question remains: how does hosting international events truly benefit Pakistan’s cricket in the long run? Is it enough to simply play host to tournaments while relying on the goodwill of foreign nations, or should Pakistan focus on nurturing its domestic structures and elevating the sport from within?

Comparing this situation to South Africa’s history during apartheid highlights an important distinction. Despite being isolated during the apartheid era, South Africa eventually thrived because of a consistent, homegrown cricketing culture and strong infrastructure. By contrast, Pakistan’s insecurity about staging games on home soil raises a more pressing concern: why is the country so dependent on international validation? Why has Pakistan's cricket board allowed the fate of its domestic cricket to rest in the hands of foreign powers?

India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy isn't simply about refusing to play; it's about the larger question of whether Pakistan’s cricket future will continue to be shaped by external forces, or whether it will take charge of its own destiny. It's time for Pakistan to stop playing the victim and start building a sustainable cricketing future, independent of the optics that others want to project.

What is the use of making noises after spilling out milk?

  1. Why do we need to prepare for it at the earliest?
  2. What proactive measures can we take to eradicate this scenario?
  3. Reacting The action approach is the defensive mindset.
  4. Taking accountability for our own actions and having some dignity instead of treating the whole nation as dancers.
  5. Did we go for an alternative approach, like India has been banking on their media outlets, as the current ICC broadcaster is of Indian origin, did we holistically go for an alternative approach to create an economy package where instead of Indian broadcasters, they (countries like Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Kenya) could opt for a Pakistani broadcaster, as right now majority of the broadcasters in cricketing world comes from India, did we create such sort of economy aspect?
  6. Who is getting benefits from Pakistan dependent instead of homegrown broadcasters, depending heavily on foreign broadcasters? It should be investigated for sure.
  7. This should have been the responsibility of the PCB to create such aspects and create their own self-grown earning sources instead of outsourcing.

Sports management | Where is Sports in Pakistan heading?

This is going to be a totally different blogpost than the rest as it is related to Pakistani society, common biases, and likewise backend management.

What is meant by sports management?

The main purpose of sports management is to combine management skills with HR skills in a corporate setting. A good team needs to practice performing well, but it also needs a well-oiled supporting machine behind it to take care of everything off the field. This is where a sports manager becomes the key person.

Here are some reasons why superior sports management is important:

  • Ensuring athletes perform at their best: Sports management helps ensure that athletes are able to perform at their best by providing them with the necessary resources and support they need to succeed.
  • Preventing injuries: Sports management can help prevent injuries by ensuring that athletes are properly trained and equipped with the right gear.
  • Improving overall team performance: Sports management can help improve the overall performance of a team by providing them with the necessary resources and support they need to succeed.
  • In conclusion, superior sports management is essential for the success of any sports team. It helps ensure that athletes are able to perform at their best, prevents injuries, and improves overall team performance.

Mismanagement and ںالائقی of Pakistanis

Just because we as nation have a sense of insecurity with others, we aren't collaborative unlike western countries which is solely based on collaborating environment, instead you're gauged on the basis of how much you're providing to the society, can or are we able to assure the same towards our society? In a society which is based on the fact that most of us believe in شراب سے وضو کرنا methodology, so how come we could able to improve ourselves?
In a society which is based on nepotism and likewise favoritism, (both terms are used in alternative for each other but actually there are subtle differences in application of these terms), where in the society it is not believed in circulation of talents and capability, instead things have been otherwise, where whether someone is talented or have the skills, otherwise capability of doing something in particular circumstances, which is the main moto of HR i.e., right person for the right place at right time; so if we Pakistan's ain't sincere with ourselves as Pakistanis, so why young generation is going to respite Pakistan? because we as elders are their vision to the world, means they are going to view what we are going to show them and likewise whatever WE FEED INTO THEIR MIND, so I should not include religion here but little bit of religious stinge, which is solely based on accountability aspect. where Pakistan has been suffering and have suffered due to lack of accountability, again I should not bring Pakistani "dirty" politics here, but former politicians of Pakistan, who have been acting like سو چوہے کھا کر بلی حج کو چلی yet Pakistani civilians have not retaliated on what have been robbed off them.

Sports management, Pakistan and our current educational curriculum

I might be diverting little bit away from sports and cricket genre, but due to it related to cultural norm of Pakistani society, I feel these issues should be addressed, as I personally (apologies for redundantly using this term) feel that due to inconsistency (am I being acted as Misbah ul Haq) and likewise momentum (read: Shoaib Malik), we have not created a culture of learning and continuous improvement, because continuous improvement requires continuity, and this has been the factor which we progressed negatively.

Educational mindset and Short-term achievement matrix

I personally (again sorry) feel that there should be mission-and-vision sort of mindset what we are planning to achieve in x amount of time, which definitely requires subtle research work, and hence have we invested on in-house research teams? We have not even tried in investing on how much DATA and related DATA which Turns into INFORMATION which makes some sense

Data and Information differentials

The terms “data” and “information” are often used interchangeably, but they have different meanings. According to 1, data refers to individual facts, figures, or statistics that are unorganized and unrefined. Data can be a number, symbol, character, word, codes, graphs, etc. On the other hand, information is data that has been processed, organized, and structured in a meaningful context. Information is utilized by humans in some significant way (such as to make decisions, forecasts etc.). For example, a computer uses programming scripts, formulas, or software applications to turn data into information.
  • Data is unorganized and unrefined facts.
  • Information comprises processed, organized data presented in a meaningful context.
  • Data is an individual unit that contains raw materials which do not carry any specific meaning.
  • Information is a group of data that collectively carries a logical meaning.
  • Raw data alone is insufficient for decision making.
  • Information is sufficient for decision making.
So these are definitely unexplored strata of opportunities we Pakistanis are criminally ignoring, because utilizing the AVAILABLE data is something everybody in today's world could do; even those who says; ہم نے دھوپ میں بال سفید نہیں کئے ہیں but isn't it an opportunity inside Pakistan for us Pakistanis that we create our own data management skills? and Continuously incorporate such criterions not to indulge into national interest? For which we are have to think as Pakistanis not that insecure کاشف and/or سمیہ who're always in fear کہ کہیں مجھ سے آگے نا نکل جائے ; this is where our national curriculum is to be blamed, because it is unable to horn this aspect into minds of our students, furthermore we are unable to generate this aspect into our national curriculum, that there is always another way; which currently while I am writing these lines, doesn't available.

Where is sports management in it?

This is the era of data management, and hence whoever have the access the data and have that skills to elaborate that raw data into relevant information is the new king (read: Google), so if we instead of investing on homegrown talent, we have been criminally negligent to provide chances to foreign elements to COMPILE, CONDUCT and ANALYZE our DATA and yet convert it to information which could definitely be used against us, because we are not prepared for this newer challenge, yet because we do not treat it as a newer threat.
In common-laymen term, sports management is all about conduct data, compiling them and analyzing the outcome of those data, from which if something may go haywire, how it affects could be reduced, and this is what a sports manager does, so these have been some aspects which I wanted to address just because we as nation still take "unconventional" job selection as بیوقوفی just because even in 2024, we have been living under stone, and living under a "conformity" bias, undermining the unearth opportunities hidden behind those "unconventional jobs", for which we elders are to be blamed.

West Indies reached Karachi, but...

West Indies squad have reached Karachi, which is a good thing for both Pakistan and for Cricket, as two mercurial teams are going to compete against each other in two of the formats well suited to both of them, whereas Pakistan hosting a complete T20 and ODI series on Karachi soil.

But

As I have been advocate of staging more games on to other centers like Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar (when ready and available), Multan etc.;

Why I am saying this

I have been saying this because of my psychological aspects;

Think Internationally

We are bad at marketing and are worst of marketers, because read my words whilst having open and broad mindset, as whenever International Cricket is arranged in a particular country, they DO MAKE such arrangements just like Pakistan currently doing, but I am acting like thinking differently, because today's era is of broadcast, and the broadcaster buys country's cricket series' with respect to its demand and demand depends on perception, and perception is created upon what YOU'RE showing to them; and now think about when we're showing them that foreign players when landing into Pakistan, are being escorted bordering security personnel, although this is a norm even in countries like Australia and England but they don't show their security personnel, although their (security personnel contribution) should be appreciated, but not in that manner, the way PCB Social Media have been bragging,

We Require to Show Pakistan a Safe country but not like that

Because just like I mentioned above, this is all about psychological and perception creation and modification, because again, every country makes sufficient arrangements, when an International Team visits them, but if their national board starts showing foreign players being escorted in tight security, again I must confess, not saying our security personnel are doing average job, but whatever we show them (international viewers) creates a perception, and perception is responsible for creating a FALSE REALITY, and my query is with all of them (the foreigners who have visited Pakistan), whatever perception foreigners have about Pakistan, reality in Pakistan is totally different.

Not Talking about Politics and Geo-Political issues hampering Pakistan's perception

The recent events conducted at Sialkot does hampered reputation of Pakistan and its economy, hence this is the high time, Pakistan should emphasize perception creation first, even if they want some reels for Instagram Stories, they should show enthusiasm of our crowd who love cricket and cricketer and chanting banners for appreciation of foreign players instead of showing, airing and broadcasting videos of foreign players being escorted in tight security, again a subtle disclaimer, that not saying reduce security, but don't create a false perception of Pakistan in the minds of those foreigners who have not visited Pakistan and instead installing a pre-installed fear installed into their sub-conscious mind.

We should look into Bangladesh's approach

The way they (the Bangladeshi Cricket Board) promoted this image, because it literally gave subtle invitation to those people to visit Bangladesh, who have not, because this is the way modern promotion of (cricketing) economies are done.

This is a sports but where is the sportsmen spirit???

Definition of Sportsmen Spirit/Sportsmanship

This is not the matter of "it is in the rules" or not, but where is the sportsmen spirit?

If it is allowed in ICC Rules and Regulations, than why Ben Stokes apologized to NZ team that it wasn't intentional? What if in 1994, Amir Sohail did the same to Danny Morrison?

This is harsh

But Australians have a history of utilizing the flaw in ICC rules which is not a bad thing, I am not saying that it should be degraded but the fact is why appreciating such act which is allowed in the books of the law but not appreciated in the books of sportsmen spirit?

Either by Hook or by Crook

I do not wanna go through their history but their history depicts they have been aggressive which again not a bad thing but aggression with etiquette and sportsmen spirit makes you a true champ and the motive of writing this article is not pointing fingers on quick decision making of Warner but the way their coach and some school of thought were appreciating this as if it didn't defy spirit of the game, otherwise the same law should be applied on players of other teams to have a look at Australian bowlers' popping foot and instead of overlooking, demand for a no ball when they come near to the danger zone, because this demands for a clear check whether we would like to play this game of cricket with true spirit or otherwise be it being played without taking account of sportsmen spirit?

My conclusion

I am again on the same instance that no doubt it was on the books of the law, but shouldn't we be incorporating sportsmanship when it comes to incidents like that which brings bad taste to the mouth, whenever discussed, just like that underarm delivery incident did, when after the conclusion of the match, batter was seen disgusted throwing down his bat, do we want our sportsman be disgusted and degraded like that? Choice is on them, I can only point out and identify.
