Kashmir Premier League - Where is the PCB marketing?

The aim and mission of staging KPL in Azad Kashmir
and the ill-mannered PCB marketed is a
total disappointment

Purpose of This Tournament

The main motive/motif of this tournament was to promote Pakistan Cricket in North Eastern Part of Pakistan i.e. Azad Kashmir, but the way it has been marketed, was just like PCB just did it for the sake of staging a formality.

The Era We are living in

Like I mentioned above, the success and/or failure of a tournament depends on how much it reaches to the market and the audience, although on PTV Sports marketing, it was shown that B-Sports is partner of this league, they had invested on graphics, in-stadia-banners is totally commendable, but honestly tell me, where is the marketing of this tournament?

Marketing

Marketing plays important aspect for success of such tournaments, although I must admit, presentation is super awesome, but apart from presentation, audience reach is another thing on which PCB failed, because unlike PSL, KPL didn't deserve this sort of marketing,

No Live Scoring Facility

This is something we are now prone as websites like ESPNcricinfo banks on live commentary and live scoring, but shameful for us Pakistanis and PCB that KPL wasn't covered live, when a tournament ain't covered live, interest for the investors and audience gradually comes down.

It was an opportunity for PTV Sports/Geo
Pakistani so-called Cricketing Websites are quiet
when it comes to market a Pakistani Content

Super

Live Broadcasts does incorporate some legal obligations, I agree and respect those legal terms, but live scoring-cum-commentary on their (PTV Sports/Geo Super) website was an opportunity to initiate a Pakistani Website for the same thing ESPNcricinfo does, because currently we DO NOT have a proper and dedicated Pakistani website doing chores like CI does, and now we require a Pakistani website for marketing Pakistani owned cricket, which in the case of KPL 2021 was a bummer.

When our own people are going to degrade a Pakistani Content, how can we expect from foreigners to do our job?

This is my query, because being a Pakistani, it is humiliating when a Pakistani content is being shown offline on international arena, although as per PCB, shown via SuperSports, Willow TV etc but what is the use when it ain't being marketed by PCB itself, isn't it responsibility of PCB to make sure its content is at its priority???

Either PCB

  • Does owned PCB website for the same thing, because live-written-cricket-commentary has its own dimension
  • PCB Broadcasters does this job for PCB and it should be deemed to their contract that they should be held responsible for airing quality written commentary and live scoring for their content.

While waiting for #WIvPAK...

Since there is still some time left on start of #WIvPAK Test Series in Jamaica, which is supposed to starting on 12th August 2021, I was looking for some Pakistan Cricket news, other than ESPNcricinfo, no offense with CI, but for the sake of variation in Pakistan Cricket News, I opt for the sole operator of cricket in Pakistan i.e. PCB Website, which was a sole disappointment for me.

Disappointment???

Lack of proper information

Lack of proper information in an era where information is being used to earn and we allow our browsers to enable cookies, because in this way, websites use this data to produce relevant information and advertisement, I in comparison visited Bangladesh Cricket Board official website, although their product is in comparison with PCB, is quite weak, still the way they are marketing their product because the more your product is attractive, the more it is going to be reached to the masses. I have selected BCB and PCB website for comparison, as both websites are just websites, unlike BCCI interactive AI-enabled portal-like-website, so there is no comparison between PCB and BCCI website, but comparison with BCB is justifiable.

Loading of website

It is said, first impression lasts very quickly, and hence if website loads very slowly, in an era where information matters and these portal like websites are the tale of the day, read BCCI website where I was astonished to find how quickly it loaded on my Mozilla Firefox 90.0.2 within 9 second although it is very much loaded with images, because I didn't knew till today that Nike is not now the official kit producer for BCCI instead an Indian MPL Company, although I had seen the same on their tour to Australia, but I thought maybe Nike had changed their design and just like New Balance did with England Cricket Board where they replicated 1992 retro kit, BCCI did the same, without knowing that Nike has been stripped and MPL is now new official kit manufacturer for Indian Cricket. But the same information was SANS in case of PCB, it was shown as commercial partner but not any relationship with the masses i.e. the audience because of which Pakistan Cricket is being known, but sorry to say this is the thing totally ignored, which is a bummer.

Lack of images, and Pakistan Cricket merchandise

A Cricket Board Website usually comprises of such content which is their identity, like Windies cricket, portrays Chris Gayle silhouette, Cricket Sri Lanka portrays their share of achievements on their website, but here on the PCB website, which itself a disappointment, because no interactive menus, no links for merchandise, no online ticketing facility unlike ECB, although I must admit it is a difficult and tricky aspect, but at least PCB could use the facility of Easy Paisa, which PCB always uses for making offline payments for delivering ticketing, but the same could be done online which is surely gonna promote Pakistan Cricket internationally, like HBL, MCB, ABL etc have international presence, so why not using their network for promoting international audience, because the more Pakistan Cricket is accessible to International and National audience, the more it would have the reach, which is required, but sorry to say, PCB website lacked that aspect as well.
Furthermore, lack of relevant images was another bummer, because it either comprised of podcasts, otherwise 5 days old interview of a cricketer who wants to earn WTC before he retires, means it is not updated regularly, even during off days which means during the time Pakistan Cricket is idle, but this is the time when PCB earns more audience, by allowing freelance bloggers writing on PCB.COM.PK like Cricket Australia does so.

No Information on Cricketing Structure in Country

This is a shame, because in a country which is so diversified, PCB could have had used this opportunity to define international and domestic cricketing structure in country, but when I searched for the same on PCB website, I didn't find even an article on it, let alone a sole video on the same, although I found a YouTuber page, who is presenting videos on stadiums, and probably he is promoting Pakistan Cricket the way PCB should have had done, which like I mentioned above, is a shame, because this is the era where we are seeing major constructions in Pakistan, which includes Pakistan Cricket Structure as well, because Karachi has National Stadium and Moin Khan Academy and Rafi Cricket Stadium which in an under-construction project which is supposed to be ready-to-stage cricket games in 2023, but no article was being shown on their website.

Shouldn't a Main Cricketing Body in the country should preserve cricket data on their website???

Because I'd again go back to ECB, where they have on their YouTube page, have portrayed the same direction pointer on Lord's Cricket ground for subscribe now button, because they are merging their heritage with modern looks, because even though I have not been to the UK, but because in books and magazines I had seen that pointer, yet when YouTube showed me this in suggestion, I from the back of my mind recollected that it must be something from Cricket in England and when I clicked, I was redirected to ECB YouTube page, nothing of that sort is being replicated by PCB, like creating an icon of drone view of Gaddafi Stadium or a cricketing monument which is associated with cricket in Pakistan, but nothing of that sort was shown on their website and sorry to say it was just another website for me, instead of a cricketing website for a centralized cricketing body in the country.
