ICC Champions Trophy 2025 - the drama continues

Oh, the charade of diplomacy and pretense continues with India throwing a wrench in Pakistan's plans to host the 2025 Champions Trophy. The ICC Board, in its magnanimous wisdom, has generously granted the PCB extra time to devise a feasible plan amidst India's stubborn refusal to set foot on Pakistani soil. The deadline for this absurd conundrum's resolution looms within the next 24-48 hours. Friday’s ICC Board meeting, a hasty affair lasting under 15 minutes, aimed to untangle the mess surrounding the eight-team tournament. PCB’s chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, journeyed to Dubai for this theatrical performance, though most attendees preferred the safety of their online cocoons. In a surreal twist, a few member boards will now join ICC leadership, PCB, and BCCI to hammer out an agreement that won't offend anyone's delicate sensibilities. Rumors suggest that clandestine discussions have been ongoing, with further negotiations scheduled for Friday and Saturday. Naqvi, ever the diplomat, has expressed willingness to entertain BCCI’s grievances about traveling to Pakistan, a sentiment he’s now compelled to act upon. Before any grand proposal can be finalized, it must navigate the labyrinthine bureaucracies of both Indian and Pakistani governments. India's government has outright barred their team from traveling, prompting the PCB to insist that any decisions must have their government's blessing. The ICC Board, a pantheon of representatives from all 12 Full Member countries, met with three fantastical options for the tournament's fate:
Right now, situation tilted in balance for the fate of
ICC Champions Trophy
  1. The hybrid model: Most matches in Pakistan, with India’s games held elsewhere.
  2. The tournament entirely outside Pakistan, though the PCB retains hosting rights.
  3. The entire event in Pakistan, sans India.
The PCB has resolutely opposed the hybrid model, though whispers of conditional acceptance have surfaced, possibly involving a quid pro quo for future ICC events in India. Naqvi, coy as ever, hinted that government approval is paramount, maintaining the stance of acting in Pakistan’s best interest. One board director confided to ESPNcricinfo that the hybrid model might be the only viable solution. With the tournament set to commence in less than 90 days on February 19, venues in Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi are poised to host the games. Yet, the hybrid option necessitates an additional venue outside Pakistan. The ICC Board had approved a match schedule in October, but India's travel prohibition remains a stubborn hurdle. India’s reluctance to travel was only made public this month when the BCCI informed the ICC, delaying the official schedule launch previously slated for November 11. The PCB has been clamoring for detailed justifications from the BCCI, insisting on a written explanation. India’s Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, in a masterpiece of diplomatic evasion, cited "security concerns" for the decision. "Refer to the BCCI statement," the spokesperson deflected during a routine press briefing. "They mentioned security concerns, making it unlikely for the team to travel." Yet, the BCCI has remained mum, avoiding any public discourse on the matter, and deftly passing the decision-making buck to the Indian government. In this theater of the absurd, the saga of the 2025 Champions Trophy hosting rights rolls on, with Pakistan's national interests caught in the crossfire of political maneuvering and bureaucratic posturing.

PCB Firmly Rejects Hybrid Model for Champions Trophy

Could we see such scenes at Gaddafi?
India's attempts to undermine Pakistan's hosting of the Champions Trophy are escalating, with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) using backdoor diplomacy and Indian media to cast doubts about the security situation in Pakistan.

Despite there being no official communication from the BCCI to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the Indian media has been perpetuating a narrative that the Indian team is hesitant to travel to Pakistan for the tournament. However, the PCB has reiterated its commitment to hosting the tournament in Pakistan, refusing to accept a hybrid model.

The PCB chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, emphasized that the BCCI has not raised any formal objections regarding India's participation in the tournament. Naqvi also pointed out that Pakistan has made significant concessions to India in the past, including travelling to India for the ODI World Cup in 2023 despite India's refusal to reciprocate for the Asia Cup.

It appears that India's reluctance to send its team to Pakistan is driven by its own internal politics rather than any valid security concerns. The PCB has assured that all necessary facilities and security arrangements will be made to ensure the smooth conduct of the tournament.

Naqvi, who is also the Pakistan interior minister, emphasized that politics should not be allowed to interfere with sporting events. He stated that Pakistan will not make any exceptions for India in the future if they fail to reciprocate the hospitality and goodwill shown by Pakistan.

Critical Analysis:

This episode highlights the complex dynamics of India-Pakistan relations, with cricket often used as a pawn in their geopolitics. India's attempt to deflect attention from its own reluctance to travel to Pakistan by using the media and raising unsubstantiated security concerns is a classic case of diplomatic gamesmanship.

By using the Indian media to create a narrative that Pakistan is not a suitable host, the BCCI is attempting to deflect pressure from its own government and public to avoid travelling to Pakistan. However, the PCB's stance remains unambiguous: if India does not send its team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, Pakistan will reassess its participation in future tournaments in India.

Using sports as a diplomatic tool is nothing new, but it is particularly egregious in this case. India's actions are a clear attempt to undermine Pakistan's reputation and credibility as a host country, while simultaneously trying to politicize the event to its advantage.

Ultimately, the success of the Champions Trophy in Pakistan will depend on the cooperation and goodwill of all participating teams, including India. However, if India continues to play politics with cricket, it may find itself increasingly isolated in the international sporting community.

ICC Champions Trophy - nothing but an example of how wars are going to be done in future

I know it is a cricketing blog and I might sound like Mr. Zaid Hamid. Still, the fact is when I am joining all the missing pieces of the puzzle, things aren't adding up if we recall ourselves, India is right in their stance since they haven't uttered anything from their end, but instead, like I mentioned a term in one of my previous (blog post) pieces, Indian media is translating their government and their cricket board's stance, otherwise utter silence from their government and their cricket board.

Whereas our side of the media?

Like the image on your right-hand side, Pakistan media made a similar sort of mess up, instead of being quiet and doing the reconciliation from behind the back doors, they are to be blamed for all of the havoc and torture, we have been experiencing in past one month, without any سر and پیر of the real issue, India has been playing a distraction game just like famous character in one of the Bollywood movie "3 Idiots", there was a character named "Chatur", who used to distract students during "Chand Raat" before actual exams, whereas he used to study, this is what Pakistani media did to Pakistan's interests.

Why have we been hype oriented?

The following screenshot provides a reality check, highlighting the direction our society is heading. Instead of comparing ourselves with neighbouring countries, it’s clear that their interest levels and standards differ significantly from ours. When I compared the thought processes of Pakistani and Indian journalists, it became evident that Indian journalists are far ahead. This comparison reveals a stark difference in the media's effectiveness. What problems has our media resolved? Instead, they have muddled Pakistani interests, spreading chaos rather than clarity.

While assertiveness is commendable, using it to undermine our own people and compromise national interests is detrimental. Our media has created havoc in the minds of their audiences, leaving crucial issues unresolved and hidden. If we point fingers at India, we must also question ourselves: Who allowed them to exploit our weaknesses?

Problem solution matrix

ICC Champions Trophy 2025 - The PCB vs. BCCI: Navigating the Champions Trophy Standoff

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is still awaiting a response from the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding India's refusal to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy next February. Despite having written to the ICC a week ago for clarity and details on the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)'s decision, the PCB has yet to receive any formal communication.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi remains optimistic about hosting the tournament, marking Pakistan's first ICC event since 1996. “We have sent them [ICC] the questions we had,” Naqvi said during a press interaction at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium. “We are still waiting for their response. I believe that sports and politics are separate and no country should mix the two. Even now, I still have positive expectations about the Champions Trophy.”

Naqvi emphasized that the PCB is committed to hosting the tournament in Pakistan without resorting to a hybrid model, although he expressed a willingness to engage in dialogue with the BCCI to resolve the issue. "At this moment, every team that has qualified for the Champions Trophy is ready to come," he stated. "Nobody has any issues. I will say today also, if India has any concerns, speak to us about them, we can ease those concerns. I don't think there is any reason for them not to visit."

When questioned about the possibility of boycotting the event if hosting rights are revoked, Naqvi highlighted Pakistan's pride and the importance of the ICC's credibility. "My feeling is that the ICC will have to think about its credibility, that are they an organisation for all the world's bodies," he asserted.

The Champions Trophy tour began in Islamabad and had to be rerouted following BCCI's objections. Initially, the tour included Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistan Administered Kashmir, but this destination was removed due to the BCCI's complaint. The revised route has yet to be cancelled and they will return to Pakistan in January after visiting the other seven participant countries.

Naqvi urged the ICC to announce the tournament schedule soon, allowing the PCB to continue its preparations effectively. The delay in communication and the ICC's lack of a clear stance raises questions about its ability to manage global cricketing events impartially.

In a professional environment, accountability must be prioritized over mere good faith. The ICC's failure to impose clear conditions when allocating the Champions Trophy to Pakistan in 2021 is a glaring oversight. Why wasn't a definitive timeline established, including a strict deadline for the BCCI to confirm whether India would travel to Pakistan? A hard deadline, set at least a year in advance, would have provided the necessary clarity and prevented this last-minute confusion. Instead, the BCCI's refusal to travel was communicated to the ICC only on November 6, just over three months before the tournament’s scheduled start on February 19. This lack of foresight by the ICC has not only created unnecessary uncertainty but also shown a lack of respect for Pakistan's efforts as the host. Pakistan deserves better planning and a more professional approach from the global cricketing body.

It is high time for the ICC to uphold its credibility and ensure that decisions are made transparently and in the best interests of all member nations. The current situation not only undermines Pakistan's efforts but also sets a concerning precedent for future ICC events.

ICC Champions Trophy - Controversy in trophy tour

It is an ICC event, so why is PCB following
dictations when none follows their dictation?
The ICC's Champions Trophy tour will begin on Saturday from Islamabad, Pakistan, but will exclude Muzaffarabad from its initial leg due to objections raised by the BCCI. The removal of Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistan-administered Kashmir, sends a harmful message to those living in these areas, implying they are not worthy of recognition. These regions deserve the same acknowledgement as major cities like Karachi. Furthermore, the PCB missed a crucial opportunity by failing to include Peshawar and Quetta in the tour. These cities are just as integral to Pakistan, and promoting tourism there should have been a priority, rather than focusing solely on a few selective venues.

This objection caused delays in finalizing a new route, raising concerns about the tour's potential postponement. The PCB announced the tour's launch and route on social media on Thursday, catching the ICC off guard. As an ICC event, protocol dictates that the global body announces such details.

However, an alternative route was finalized late on Friday, allowing the tour to begin as originally planned and announced by the PCB. Former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar will accompany the trophy on the first day as it is displayed at iconic landmarks in Islamabad, including Daman-e-Koh, Faisal Mosque, and the Pakistan Monument.

From Islamabad, the trophy will visit schools, colleges, and landmarks in Abbottabad, Murree, and Karachi in the opening leg before embarking on an international tour to the seven other countries participating in the Champions Trophy.

The trophy will return to Pakistan on January 27, three weeks before the tournament's scheduled start, for another tour of venues across Pakistan.

With less than 100 days remaining until the tournament, it is unacceptable that there is still uncertainty about how much of the event will be held in Pakistan. I have been vocal in condemning this decision because it will undoubtedly tarnish Pakistan's image, while India will take every opportunity to undermine us. We must focus on the broader implications rather than getting caught up in short-term thinking. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has informed the International Cricket Council (ICC) that its government will not allow the team to play in Pakistan, proposing a hybrid model where India plays its matches elsewhere. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) must stand firm and reject this notion; the entire tournament must and should be held in Pakistan only.

The PCB has written to the ICC, demanding that the BCCI provide written reasons for its refusal to visit and clarify when the ICC was informed of the BCCI's decision.

It is unacceptable for the PCB to allow foreign entities to dictate terms that compromise Pakistan's interests. The PCB must assert its authority and prioritize national interests over external pressures.

What has happened to Pakistani cricketers?

I was going through cricketing YouTube channels for updating myself off cricketing news amid COVID-19 threat.

I have not been impressed with the way our social media has been acting while refurnishing the old mid 90s fixing scams, I know it is a reality which is not going to be denied by any means, but why spoon-feeding? That too in the time period where majority of the cricketing masses are situated at homes, therefore I have been cynical on the contribution of the social media while unnecessarily hyping the age old allergy again and again, which for me is like a criminal offense.

Those who say it is not!

I just want to give an example of someone who has skin allergy for instance Eczema, once one had that instance of particular skin allergy, but now because of precautions and proper medications, one has got rid from the same, so would it be feasible for rub the same area again and again so that the particular allergy erupts again and subsequently involves other areas of the body. The best way to tackle with skin allergy is to contain the allergy at a limited area.

Fixing and Allergy

Same is the scenario with Fixing Allegations being criminally highlighted where instead of containing the same, our so called social media is glamorizing it as a pride. If I remember correctly (correct me if I am not) spanning from 2010 till 2019, we had seen Muhammad Amir, Muhammad Asif, Salman Butt, Wahab Riaz, Kamran Akmal, Danish Kaneria, Sharjeel Khan, Khalid Latif, and last but yet to be the least, Umar Akmal.

Shoaib Akhtar

What has happened to Shoaib Akhtar? If I recall myself back in time when Shoaib Akhtar was about to launch his book "Controversially Yours" in 2011, where he used to bash Indian Cricketers, even at that time I personally used to place my status's regarding why he has been so controversial, as at that time I didn't know the meaning of being an attention-seeker, but after some "software timely update" he has been psychoanalytically more closer to India than the Indians themselves.

As per the video above

Are Indians so vocal about Pakistani cricketers these days like Pakistani cricketers have been? Instead of being social media junkies, they should concentrate on continuous improvement cum upgrades, instead of degrading the stature of all Pakistanis all around the world by doing such cheap things. Just answer me this thing again, are Indians vocal about Pakistanis? Aren't they considering Indian interests more than anything else? It is the intent which matters.

Danish Kaneria playing the minority card

Danish Kaneria after spoiling his own case, has now gone all naked and like we say in Urdu بے شرم ہوجانا because he initially ruined his own case and now after crying over the spilled milk, has tried himself to be a drama queen to instead playing his cards with his judgement, which I am sorry he did not, the claims he has been portraying on his online interview with Vikrant Gupta of an Indian TV Sports Tak.

My say

My say is that he himself is responsible for the mess, either he was wrong the first time and later on he was right or change of hearts, but the way he shred the light on the minority card, is very humiliating because we as Pakistanis doesn't believe on such things, he himself has a right to earn a living, this is a definite physiological right of DK, but if I were at DK's place, I would had taken some other aspects of earning my living, as I personally feel since I am plagiarized now to represent the country, I would definitely had sidelined myself from cricketing activities. This would have been the case for DK instead of returning back to cricket. Respect is more important than money, this is what I personally feel.

What the Fuss about PSL and IPL?

Since the inception of league cricket, benefited the Indian Cricket on the whole, I remember it was 2005 Pakistan tour to India which Pakistan won and had the upper hand on their rivals, but since IPL was started in rival of Indian Cricket League or more commonly known by its acronyms ICL, was born to cater the fear of regular players not becoming the part of the rebel cricket league because the cricketing world had seen what changes Kerry Packer bought to the cricket.

The IPL

Being a Pakistani, I do not have much interest in IPL not because it is Indian League this and that but because;

Cons

  1. No Pakistani players in the league, therefore no affection for me to watch this league without players from Pakistan.
  2. Too much lengthy proposition for me to glued on my couch, two months of watching the league.
  3. Too much emphasis on the money aspect instead of the cricket.

Pros

  1. Benefited the Indian Cricket and its culture while mixing with players from different background and with different skills.
  2. Indian Team fitness woes were address and now the newer breed of Indian Team is the fittest I have seen since 1999 when I actually started cricket with interest.
  3. Indian Cricket Team is now well informed with opposition conditions and how to cater the same when needed.

Why need for PSL?

Like me, many Pakistanis opposed the need for PSL to be renamed as PPL or Pakistan Premier League because;
  1. It reminded us that it is not a cricket league name but a Pipe Manufacturing Company name.
  2. Keeping the aspect of something new, it would had made a monotone thing because the 4 main cricket leagues I remember are IPL, CPL, BPL, SLPL therefore Pakistan required some-branding instead of this monotone branding which the other leagues have already incorporated.

Needed for a softer image of Pakistan

I am flashbacked into the memory lane and it was around 2012 where I first heard the name of PSL amid recent outburst on SL Cricket Team at Lahore was afresh, therefore Pakistan needed to create a softer image of Pakistan because three years without cricket at home for Pakistan at Pakistan was something hampering Pakistani prospects, because Pakistan is generally known for inception of raw-talent into international cricket like Wasim and Waqar to be precise and Muhammad Amir at latest. But because of the SL team attack at Lahore, Pakistan was rated as the most dangerous country than Iraq where the US were bombing for WMD.

Pakistan required a genuine earning source of income

Continuous source of income is a blessing for any cricket board. Australia was benefited with the fact that Englishmen from England created a Cricketing Culture way back in late 1800's and Early 1900s when Melbourne Cricket Ground aka the MCG was not more than an Oval, but because this culture was made a constant thing in consistency, therefore what I read and what I heard from my friends living at Sydney, Melbourne and Hobart, even their school cricket has more crowd watching both on the Oval and on Television, and even during the weekends, cricketers go to school county ground, sign autographs and share them their experiences. Because of that not only the young breed is quick to learn, but also they are responsible for the crowd to watch their games on grounds or the Ovals.
Therefore keeping the same background, Pakistan also required the same because no team was touring Pakistan so the gatepass, and matches income was diminished, while playing at UAE meant Pakistan forgot how to play on lively wickets, although it was nice of UAE for sharing their venues for Pakistan, but the fact is Pakistan required a source of income like we bankers use their Sundry Income accounts, the same is the case with PCB where it required a marginal income, which Pakistan achieved in staging PSL initially at UAE and from second season on-wards and gradually Pakistan was able to stage games at Pakistan, initially at Lahore and than in the third edition it were Lahore and final in Karachi.

Returning the game to Pakistan

This is another aspect for which it was required to stage PSL and that too in Pakistan because the crowd at Pakistan HAS affection with the team, which we weren't able to find in the UAE, therefore players also like playing in front of a lively crowd which we all saw during the PSL Final and than 3 T20I matches against the Windies, therefore Pakistan needed to step-on the fifth gear to initiate the financial, marketable and social aspect as well.

My question to the Indian YouTube Channel Owners

Why in the world, you start comparing your lucrative cricket league with a newbie version from Pakistan? The reasons behind inception of both leagues were different and had different circumstances. We as Pakistanis didn't originate this league to compete but to facilitate our cricketers and to give them the same environment and share the dressing room with different players from different background and cultures, plus to keep the balance intact in the region so that India do not play the 'Black-Michael' role in the region. Did we ever say that our miniature cricket league would able to compete with IPL? Even Najam Sethi clearly mentioned that it'll be 2nd league after IPL because IPL is 11 years old whereas PSL is 3, therefore the circumstances and purpose of both the leagues were and are varied so why in the world these Indian YouTube video channel owners are trying to compete and compare the two leagues, and even those Buffoons do not have the guts to see that the trophy was made by Swarovski, who're renowned crystal jewelers and I had heard in a YouTube video that it looked like a three years old craftsmanship. Get a Life guys, this league was not made for your satisfaction or for that reason to defame because as I repeatedly said and confirmed that PSL was solely made for these mentioned and main reason and not for competing with India, the Indian Cricket or the IPL.

Disclaimer: This post was not made to defame those Indians who're understanding and/or have good ties with me and other Pakistani, this was particularly reply to those Indians who have a mindset that PSL was originated contra to IPL.

The ICC Conference 2011 in Hong Kong and Pakistan...

ICC surely took some tough decisions in this
conference held at Hong Kong, some were meaningful
others were meaningless, like allotting unequal
number of games among the playing nations
Atlast India have won this frontier and many congrats on it as they made Pakistan Cricket on the backfoot. But no blame game as whatever happened, is because of our own mistakes.

Why I am saying this? Its because of just 88 test matches, in which some of the India-Pakistan matches schedules are yet to be decided due to political differences between the two boards, officially it says 88 but I say not more than 78 79 test matches after Pakistan tour to Windies to the end of 2020 where this current FTP is limited to.

In it we're unsure of many tournaments which Pakistan is going to play according to FTP, but while reviewing the FTP I find out that there Pakistan has been deprived of its share of games allotted as compared to India, Australia and England, who have been playing a 5 match test series, Pakistan is only given maximum 4 match series, else its flooded with 3 match, maximum 4 match per series even against the opposition like South Africa, England, Australia, New Zealand etc.

Not counting the ODI and T20 as compared to the above mentioned ones, they are also playing the major share of ODI's as well, where Pakistan has been the third last behind Windies, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh in its quota of games to be played between the period.

I am not saying it did injustice and did and that, but the matter of fact is that there are mistakes from our end, which made us pay the price to that extend, they just capitalized the advantage they got because of us. Else Boards like BCB and SLC were/are under threat from ICC on losing its membership, PCB could had taken them in the club and tried convincing the ICC to give more share of games under its belt in this current FTP.

As far as the rules and regulation that ICC gave a press release about cricket boards without political influence, means Pakistan Cricket Board, Bangladesh Cricket Board and Sri Lanka Cricket are under direct assault and they have 24 months to bring that much change into their whole system. Although Pakistan solitary retaliated and foolishly said that political influence is required for setting up security matters for foreign and national tours etc, but I agree with the ICC on it that cricket boards are required to be elected not selected. It means that Pakistan will experience many changes in its system, influence of governing council, board of governance, which were a tale of old times will revive again.

Hoping for the best for Pakistan cricket.

Sri Lankan Premier League and BCCI... What's next?

I personally can't understand objections
by BCCI on not sending its players to
SLPL
I gotta say, we South Asians are pretty good in creating a drama, of whatever the reason. At one end we have BCCI who have been acting like a GodFather of cricketing world, on the contrary, there's a buffoon as chairman of the slot, who is only busy in giving job opportunities to retired personnel of whatever the field, they just have to have some sort of hello hi with him. On the contrary, I must say, that Sri Lanka has been a victim, as during the recently concluded Cricket World Cup 2011, it was the only full fledged team, as a host who was deprived of playing its full quota of home games at HOME (remember, their last game against the Kiwis was at Wankhede, Mumbai, although it was a home game for Sri Lanka), secondly it didn't got its match fees and broadcast money from BCCI, as we all know today most of the construction work done on that scale, the span Sri Lanka did on its ground was on macro scale, and so it had to leased them, and if news on Thursday (16th June, 2011) are to be believed true, Sri Lanka cricket asked for loan on easy installment from its government for expenditures made on its infrastructures and facilities, I can be wrong but a cricket board recovers that amount from ground door fees and broadcasting facilities. It means the SLC didn't get its share of pie from the Cricket World Cup 2011 package itself, that's why I am calling SLC as victims and they're being victimized more and more when its about to start its own domestic T20 tournament at R. Premadasa Stadium, at Colombo.

I am not getting this point, when IPL is having IMG responsible for the logistics and marketing of the multimillion tournament, so when Sri Lanka Cricket appointed Somerset, how can it be claimed that its not owned by SLC but Somerset? While reading the case history of SLPL, SLC did gave a tender, which a Singapore based company, Somerset, won it for the logistics and marketing of the tournament, so I don't think there's anything wrong with it... Everyone does it. Even during the last part of Sharjah Cup, WorldTel used to do the same job before TenSports came for the same, don't wanna say the same for Pakistan Cricket as there has been a dilemma with Pak Cricket that we do not had a permanent broadcaster in near past, since inception of TenSports into Pakistan Cricket.
Not wanna use tough words but
atleast one should be realistic
when pointing fingers on
someone else, as when you point
one finger on others, four points
you back

Plus secondly, last nail into the coffin, BCCI also took away its players from participating into the SLPL claiming its a tournament run by a private party. I'm damn sure of the two scenarios over here:

  • One, if the same was appointed in accordance with BCCI, such thing wouldn't had happened, i.e. go for IMG-TWI, so that India-Sri Lanka cricket boards' partnership goes longer like their test teams are having...
  • Second, it can be a tactic to gather attention into this tournament, else being a Sri Lankan domestic tournament, no one would go for this tournament, hence television audience will be decreased.
  • Third, I must not mention this, but as Indian Masala has already been involved with Sri Lankan Cricket, it can be a tit-for-tat, against SLC when it called its players back from recently concluded IPL, for its national side tour to tough conditions in England. Lasith Malinga gave its retirement for the same as he wanted to participate into this multimillion tournament, later from which SLC compromised.

So I say, these are the three scenarios which are involved, else there's no reason why BCCI is objecting and not allowing its players to involve in this tournament, maybe because it wants to give ample importance and glamour to its players, so that they're only limited to IPL and Indian Cricket Board based matches, as it rates them as their product, like we say in Urdu, Sonay ka Anda Dene Wali Murghi, and no one except PCB rates their players as raw material which are to be ignored and put into dustbin.
