Yesterday ended 11th season of HBL PSL, which actually was not impressive at all, starting with the legacy of HBL PSL how it started, and where it is standing now, especially broadcasting wise, since it was flexed before tournament initiated, that it was bigger and better than ever, but like we say in Urdu, کھودا پہاڑ نکلا چوہا,
No innovation, instead sticking to the basics
Broadcasting was too timid with flashy graphics and animations, with no improvement from previous years, instead I personally felt that you were planning to go towards Karachi Airport, but instead you took turn towards Sohrab Goth, which is nowhere near to Karachi Airport.
2nd Champions to Zalmi
Yesterday's win was Zalmi's second Numero Uno, while being runners up 3 times while participating 5 times in the finals, equalling Gladiators and Sultans who have been runners up in this tournament.
"Lahore" Super League
This is something where I will be heavily critical on PSL Management, because a league is supposed to be expanding only when it is played on multiple venues and no monotony of finale venues, which have been both Karachi and Lahore only, whereas 11 years is a long time, i.e., although 11 years have passed but it has been 10 years 2 months 1 week with 4 days since first final of the HBL PSL was played, but still Pakistan hasn't managed a newer venue, nor upgraded existing venues,
Furthermore, bigger cities like Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan should possess multiple venues in cities, because in initial itinerary, 1 game in Peshawar, I respect due to volatile regional situation, but 3723 days are more than sufficient days to develop and/or upgrade multiple venues in cities, because cities should be made for living, not for political ventures and stuffing your vote-bank for political gains, political gains if necessary shouldn't compromise on living standards.
Astonishing percentages of implosion
I am constant with my perspective that PSL is in slow motion movement towards self-implosion mode, because at max 45% of the host cities goes to Lahore, 2nd slot goes to Karachi, I myself being Karachiiete, and majority of the finals have been played in these two cities, that's why I mentioned the term "implosion" because there have been instances that tournament was played in Multan, Rawalpindi, and this time it was being played in Faisalabad, but sorry to say, approximate 3723 days since first PSL final was played, still no new venue available neither for Pakistan Cricket nor HBL PSL, furthermore big cities doesn't possess more than one venue in the city, even
in this post, if you go through video in this post, you will clearly see that stands were
temporary assembled, just because you didn't manage the resources accordingly, if Karachi stadium was in Tarnished condition, was it really necessary to place PSL matches in Tarnished Stadium at first place? We had foreign commentators and foreign players, what impression they might have taken about Pakistan Cricket? They will never say it was Karachi stadium; they will refer it to Pakistan Cricket. Do you think we would be seeing these foreign commentators in next season, if they do, it would be because of PR,
but I don't think, just like any given day, they will agree for IPL, but will give second thought to PSL contract.
