Arthur feels sacking Sarfaraz was the main reason Pakistan was misfortuned at the shortest format of cricket i.e. The T20 |
This is a reality because you tweaked with the formidable lineup sequence of the Pakistan team in every series, Pakistan team lineup was tweaked and new players were inducted, like in the Sri Lanka series Umar Akmal and Ahmed Shahzad, otherwise in the next series which was in Australia, both of the players were sans available, is this the way team-understanding is created?
Sarfaraz Ahmed
Mickey Arthur believes that the removal of Sarfraz Ahmed as Pakistan's captain was one of the key factors in the team's misery in the shortest format last year.Despite being at the top of the T20I, Pakistan removed Sarfraz from its captaincy in October 2019 after a series whitewash at the hands of Sri Lanka's losing team.
While Pakistan managed to end its pride with a home series win against Bangladesh earlier this year, Arthur felt the decision to oust Sarfraz had made him a restless unit.
"Truth be told, Sarfraz is an incredible captain in T20 cricket. He reads the game well in T20 and was helpful to get his T20 team back to where he was needed."
"Sarfraz lost the captaincy and created a bit of suspicion in the team and we saw the confidence level fall."
Arthur further claimed that the team management has become accustomed to constant cutting and changing, disrupting the team's integrated structure.
