Asia Cup 2025 Trophy Controversy: India’s Arrogance, Pakistan’s Dignity

Incident Narrative – Asia Cup 2025

On 29 September 2025, the Asia Cup Final in Dubai turned into a circus of arrogance. India beat Pakistan by 5 wickets, but instead of showing grace, the Indian team staged a drama.

  • They refused to take the trophy from Mr. Mohsin Naqvi, Pakistan’s Interior Minister and ACC President.
  • The ceremony was delayed for 45 minutes while Naqvi stood firm on stage, waiting.
  • The Indian players sat like spoiled children on the field, refusing to move.
  • Had Naqvi left, Indian media would have screamed: “Pakistan stole the trophy.”
  • Naqvi even said: “Send your skipper to my Dubai room, we will conduct a ceremony allotting the trophy.”—a statement that exposed India’s childishness and Pakistan’s dignity.

This was not sport. This was arrogance dressed up as victory.

Reality Check – Champions Trophy 2025

Pakistan was the official host of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Matches were scheduled for Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi. But India, hiding behind excuses, refused to play on Pakistani soil.

  • All of India’s matches were shifted to Dubai.
  • The India vs New Zealand group match, meant for Lahore, was played in Dubai.
  • India’s semi-final against Australia and the final against New Zealand were also staged in Dubai.
  • Pakistan hosted other teams at home without incident, proving its capability.

India’s boycott hollowed out Pakistan’s hosting rights. This was not about security—it was about arrogance and political theatre.

Analysis – Pattern of Arrogance

India’s behaviour is not random. It is a pattern:

  • Politicizing sport to undermine Pakistan’s sovereignty.
  • Choosing arrogance over respect, even in victory.
  • Weaponizing media propaganda to humiliate Pakistan.

This is the same playbook exposed by the EU DisinfoLab’s 2020 “Indian Chronicles” report.

EU DisinfoLab – Indian Chronicles

The EU DisinfoLab, based in Brussels, uncovered a 15-year-long disinformation campaign in 2020.

  • Run by the Srivastava Group, the network operated in 119 countries with 750 fake media outlets.
  • Defunct NGOs were resurrected to create false legitimacy.
  • Even the identity of a deceased professor was hijacked to lend credibility.
  • Objective: to discredit Pakistan internationally at the UN, EU, and global forums.

The Pipeline of Lies

  1. Misinformation: Plant fake stories on ghost websites.
  2. Amplification: Spread them across fake outlets and bots.
  3. Disinformation: Present them at UN/EU as “independent reports.

The Asia Cup incident is the same trick—twist facts, humiliate Pakistan, and feed arrogance.

Manifesto – Pakistan’s Position

Enough is enough.

  • Pakistan must document every insult and present it to ICC and ACC as breaches of protocol.
  • Hosting rights mean sovereignty. India cannot dictate venues.
  • Pakistan must refuse ceremonial engagements with India unless respect is guaranteed.
  • Documentation and principled stance are Pakistan’s strongest weapons against propaganda.

Reflection – The Lesson

This is not about a trophy. It is about dignity.

  • Pakistan stood tall. India sat down.
  • Pakistan hosted with grace. India refused with arrogance.
  • Pakistan respected the game. India politicized the moment.

The man accused of “running away” stood firm for 45 minutes.
The team that won refused to walk 20 steps to collect a trophy.

This blogpost is not a complaint. It is a charge sheet.
Pakistan will not compromise its dignity—neither for a trophy, nor for a handshake, nor for a hashtag.
