HomePakistan tour to England 2010 Too much being defensive in approach! byMurtaza Moiz -August 28, 2010 0 A coach's job is not only to tune them but to make strategy as well! This fourth and the penultimate test match of the series is either going to be a drawn game or a win for English players! Its as simple as that, Pakistan do not have that much of a firepower to first reduce a 400+ deficit and than to impose something for the English to make them bat again in the second innings! After the controversy between Butt and Flower on favouring Aussies as the favourites for coming Ashes in Australia, this was the reply of it by Flower and the English, might you've noted (not offense however Trott played a gym of a inning) but the way they wasted the time after being warned let the spirit of sportsmanship aside, by abruptly taking time on taking guard again and again and while the bowler returning to his mark, taking lots of time consulting with Broad, wasn't that defy of spirit of cricket while playing at the HOME OF CRICKET?I'd blame our coach and support staff who are responsible for making strategies for each and every match they play, because it was ascertain after exchange of harsh words by the English coach, they'll tend to do such thing to retain their upper hand, Waqar Younis already played for the Surrey at the Brit Oval so he must have known to such things, so wasn't there a plan A, B or C something in the back of their minds? Wasn't they expecting that THEY might do such things to irritate us? Even Nasser Hussain admitted that they tend to do such things with Asian sides to irritate them and nothing personal at all. Plus when they were at top by taking half of the English side inside 100 runs so why they gave this advantage to the English by setting up defensive approach giving wide spaces to settle both Trott and Broad? Although they played chance-less innings but still when you're playing internationally, you should be able to absorb that much pressure!By the time I am writing this stuff, Tea Pakistan 46 for 3 (Butt 26*, Azhar 10*) trail England 446 (Trott 184, Broad 169, Amir 6-84) by 400 runs, although some what better after losing 3 quick wickets but still a long way to go and Pakistan need something spectacular like Younus Khan did in Karachi test 2009 against the dominant Sri Lankan side, but I don't think because of the defensive approach in England's first innings, England won't easily give the match to Pakistan now! Although even if this match is drawn (which I hope would) than it isn't a bad tour to England although it could have had better, in winning 2, losing 3 in 6 test matches!
